Peter is truly priceless. He has a comprehensive and wholesome approach to teaching, incorporating fundamentals while catering to our child’s individual strengths, weaknesses and personality.
Peter has adapted his approach to our child’s particular social behavior as well, going out of his way to come up with creative solutions and ways to interact with our child that would keep him fully engaged and challenged just beyond his current ability.
Peter creates custom lesson plans and homework each week that is catered to what will best help our child learn, grow and love playing piano. He is very good at communicating with us where our child is at and celebrating all the accomplishments and stages of his learning.
Peter has a teaching style that is always engaging, in tune with our child and always moving into new skills while strengthening learned skills.
We would highly recommend Peter as a piano instructor to children - at any skill level!

Peter Hart, piano teacher, changed my life. About three years ago I picked up the telephone and dialed his number, had a brief introductory conversation with him and decided let’s give this a try. I am now reading piano sheet music and playing Mozart and Elton John among others.
My musical journey with Peter has been joyful and liberating; discovering the possibilities of what I can do, still, during my soon to be golden years. Learning new things never has to stop. Peter is exacting, yet patient. He has a wonderful sense of humor and easily encourages my progress despite my quickness to self-deprecate. He never rushes my abilities which enables me to develop my true technique. Playing the piano is a skill, but playing music is an artform. Break it down and make it pretty. Peter taught me this.
Peter Hart is an excellent piano teacher. He changed my life through teaching me how to read piano music and play.

Passion, commitment, and innovation characterize Peter’s work as a piano teacher. As an educator, myself, for over 40 years I quickly recognized Peter’s ability to teach the adult learner in a way that is engaging, personal and multi-faceted. He began working with me in the winter of 2022. I had long wanted to play piano but had never tried to learn.
Peter assessed my capabilities and interests regarding music and noted that I am a singer and trumpet player. Though training in these has been extremely limited he recognized my basic understanding of music. He identified an adult piano book that provided gradual development of technique using familiar and
accessible music across genres. As time went on in our lessons, he suggested a couple of apps that might be an interesting yet purposeful diversion from daily piano playing. Still later he selected a familiar song book and hymnals to allow me to connect playing music with singing music. His demeanor is supportive and caring. Positive reinforcement is a particular strength even in times when I know I do not deserve it. Each lesson finishes with a focused attainable goal for the next session.
As a result of the time I have spent working with Peter, I know that my skills are developing. My ability to sight read has improved and I also feel a better understanding of music when singing with a local choral group.
If you are seeking an opportunity to learn piano in an encouraging, success-oriented environment, it is without question that I recommend Peter Hart for your serious consideration.

I worked with Peter Hart during the summer of 2021 while on Martha’s Vineyard for the summer. I had taken piano lessons as a child and began taking lessons again in the fall of 2020. I found Peter to be extremely innovative in his teaching and technique. He introduced new skills and methods to my routines and practice and provided ample complementary exercises to those from my current teacher in NYC. Peter is patient and kind and has massive knowledge in all things music. Our conversations that focused on the motivation for learning music were enjoyable, fulfilling, and inspiring. He made me want to practice more and gain mastery. I recommend Peter to anyone who wants to learn piano for the first time and to anyone who is in the middle of their piano career.
